Rules

How the plugin decides what to practice. These rules are shared by every instrument and every kind of item.

Mastery levels

Only the number matters (10 to 60); each note type can name its levels its own way. Reaching 20 and 60 stamps the start and mastery dates.

What each level means, per kind:

  • Chord: 20 shape known; 30 every string rings; 40 switches in time at the target BPM; 60 from memory with any transition.
  • Arrangement or piece: 20 sections practiced separately; 30 full run-through slowly; 40 full song at tempo with small mistakes; 60 from memory, at tempo, in context.
  • Scale, technique, exercise: 20 pattern known; 30 clean at a slow BPM; 40 clean at the target BPM; 60 from memory in any position.

Spaced review

  • Reaching 30 starts reviews every 3 days.
  • Good doubles the interval (up to 90 days), shaky keeps it, failed resets it to 3 days and drops a mastered item to Rusty.
  • An item is due soon a few days before its interval ends, and overdue after. Mastered items keep being reviewed.

Practice score

Higher means practice sooner: priority, how long since you last practiced (relative to the review interval), the gap to your target BPM, how many items it unlocks, and a bonus for Rusty items.

Practice plan

A session of N minutes is split into warm-up (15%), focus (50%), review (20%) and fun (15%), with up to three items per block and at least five minutes each. Empty blocks give their time to focus.

Ready to learn

An item you want to learn is ready when every prerequisite is at least at “Can play slowly”.
