Remarkable Synchronizer

Connect your reMarkable tablet to Obsidian. Sync notebook pages as images with full folder hierarchy preserved.

Key Features

  • Connect to reMarkable cloud with a one-time code
  • Support for self-hosted rmfakecloud servers
  • Browse notebooks in a sidebar panel with folder hierarchy
  • Sync individual, selected, or all notebooks at once with status tracking
  • Fuzzy search and filtering across notebooks
  • Render pages as JPEG, PNG, or WebP images with configurable quality
  • Export each notebook as a PDF
  • Sync annotated PDFs as the original document plus a copy with your ink drawn on it, text still selectable
  • Turn text highlights into real PDF annotations, with an optional markdown note quoting them
  • Extract keyboard-typed text into searchable markdown notes with working [[wikilinks]]
  • Import local .rmdoc files without a cloud connection
  • Desktop is fully supported
  • Mobile (iOS/Android) is experimental — page rendering uses OffscreenCanvas, which needs iOS 16.4 or later

Quick Start

  1. Install the plugin and enable it
  2. Run “Connect to reMarkable cloud” command
  3. Enter your code from my.remarkable.com
  4. Open the reMarkable panel from the ribbon icon or command palette
  5. Click sync on any notebook to download its pages as images

Mobile

Mobile support is experimental as of 1.14.0 and needs testing on real devices. Please report what you find.

Platform Status
Desktop (Windows, macOS, Linux) Fully supported
Android Works, still unconfirmed on real hardware
iPhone / iPad Needs iOS 16.4 or later

In 1.14.0 the panel’s icon buttons rendered blank on Android tablets and iPad. Fixed in 1.15.0 — verified against Obsidian’s mobile emulation rather than a physical device, so hardware reports are still very welcome.

Page rendering uses OffscreenCanvas, which arrived in iOS 16.4. On older versions the plugin tells you so directly rather than silently producing empty notebooks.

Notes for mobile:

  • Automatic background sync stays off by default. Turning it on will use mobile data and battery.
  • Importing a .rmdoc file relies on the system file picker, which may not offer .rmdoc files on iOS. Cloud sync is unaffected.
  • Your credentials are stored per vault. See Configuration.

If something does not work, please open an issue with your device, OS version, and what you saw.
